Beach. Folly is known for it's eclectic mix of inhabitants and
has long been attractive to the artist community as well as being one
of the best surfing areas on the east coast. This is an ideal eclectic
getaway in a new, lower density, well designed complex with Caribbean
flair. Ideally suited for 1-2 couples or small family, well behaved
canine family members are welcome. Peaceful, perfectly situated
location away from the hustle and bustle of front beach atmosphere, yet
only a 7 minute stroll to beach and fishing pier and 5 minutes to Center
Street restaurants/entertainment. Two beach cruiser bicycles provided
for environmentally friendly island excursions. Folly is a wonderful
kayaking area, public landing is 2 blocks away. Electric piano
in living room provided to work the kinks out of your latest composition
or practice your vocals. Charming historic Charleston is only 10
miles away!
We strive to keep our home chemical scent free by cleaning with natural products and essential oils as well as avoiding chemical pesticides etc. Chemical scent free laundry detergent, air freshener and insect repellent provided. The reason we bought property on Folly is that it has been said to have the cleanest air on the east coast and there was need to escape the heavy spring oak pollen at our residence in the woods of nearby Wadmalaw Island. We are the first owners of this home, the construction and cabinetry is modern. We furnished as much as possible with used furniture so as not to add significantly to out-gassing and kept all closets and cabinet doors and windows open as much a possible during the first year. The residence and garage is non-smoking, though we do permit the occasional smoke on the screened balconies so long as all the doors and windows remain closed.
Privately owned and managed by local couple who truly understand chemical sensitivities and the need for full disclosure. We'll want to discuss level of sensitivity involved in order to do our best to make sure it's a good fit. We truly want our guests to have a healthy relaxing getaway. Jefferson Street Bed and Breakfast Inn, Irving, Texas 75060
Located in the Historic District of Irving (between Dallas
and Fort Worth) near antique shops, family dining, services, and city parks.
Convenient to DFW airport, Love Field airport, downtown, public transit
(two minutes from South Irving train/transit station connecting to DFW airport,
downtown Dallas & Ft Worth, etc. Free parking. Owners offer an environment
that is friendly to people with multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS). Many
chemically sensitive people have commented to the owner on how well they
felt after staying here. Guests have two lodging options: rooms at the Ranch
house or rental of the Cottage. The Ranch house, built in 2006, has large
comfortable rooms all with exterior entrances. Some rooms have
a whirlpool tub in the bedroom. Free cable TV and wireless Internet. Rates:
from $99 to $170/night. Guest quarters have hard-surfaced floors
cleaned with mild Green Certified solution. No fireplaces or carpet. Each
room has its own air system; no air ducts between the guest's room. Individual
systems are electric heat pumps and each has an outdoor compressor - system
has virtually no sound. Building is new. Building procedures reduced
moisture as the house was being built and dehumidifier used as needed to
reduce Texas humidity. Windows open. High efficiency washing machine
- for washing, hot water with 3 tablespoons of non-scented detergent,
1 tablespoons of softener used per wash in bed linens, none in towels. No
pesticides or herbicides used. Smokers not accepted as guests or visitors.
No pets. House built energy efficient with lots of insulation. Each room
is individually insulated with sound barrier product. Walls 50% thicker
than standard construction.
Also available, is a freestanding charming 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom Craftsman-style Cottage with sleeper sofa. Built in 1927 and remodeled in 2006. Living area, kitchen, washer&dryer, and lovely backyard with huge trees. Rates: start at $169/night. Your rental is for the entire cottage.

The Kaweah Cottage, In the Sierra Mountains of California
The Kaweah Cottage was created for people who want a retreat from everyday
stress and wish to reconnect with the Elements. Located in the western foothills
of the Central Sierras, less than 4 hours from Los Angeles and East Bay
Areas-- and 4.5 hours from San Francisco and South Bay Areas. Close to nearby
Sequoia National Park, it is graced by blue oak woodlands, riparian wildlife
corridors, grazing horses and ancient river pools. The Cottage is green-built
and energy efficient providing a healthy and comfortable home where you
can enjoy a simple and healing lifestyle.
Built in 2006, the entire home was constructed with non toxic materials
such as formaldehyde free woods and recycled cotton insulation. No paints
or stains were used anywhere on the interior finish. All wood floors and
American clay walls. No fireplaces or carpeting. Three antique Persian rugs
can easily be removed by request. The Cottage is heated by passive solar
and a single propane wall heater. Ceiling fans and air conditioning provided
by mini-split system - compressor located outdoors. All windows in the Cottage
are double hung and easily opened and adjusted. No smoking is permitted
in the Cottage or adjacent to the Cottage. A small tabletop propane grill
is outdoors and guests are asked to close nearby windows when it is in use.
Non-toxic, unscented cleaning/laundry products used such as: Seventh Generation,
Ecover and distilled white vinegar. Special cleaning requests honored with
advance notice. Chemically sensitive guests are asked to bring their own
personal soaps, shampoos and toiletries. Pesticides/herbicides are very
rarely used to deal with black widows or yellow jacket nests, about once
a year and ONLY OUTDOORS. Guests may request that the use of these products
be suspended before and during the stay. Dogs allowed - they are not permitted
on bedding or furniture. Extra charge for the additional cleaning required.
